Joseph Sales and Sarah Latter were married on 8 Nov 1808.^16,152 witnessed by Samuel and Mary Sales. This identification is supported by the witnesses and the 1851 Rotherfield census which shows son Joseph in the Samuel Sales household. The witness Mary was probably Joseph's sister. They had their banns read in Dec 1849 in St Peter & St Paul, Tonbridge, Kent.¹⁷⁷ Banns read 16, 23 and 30 Dec 1849. Sarah Latter was born about 1785.^16,182 She died before 21 Jun 1837. The family most likely lived at Park Corner, just near the Kent/Sussex border, and in the northern end of Rotherfield parish, where other Sales records are found.
