He was baptized on 9 Feb 1728 in Tonbridge, Kent.¹⁸ Both the IGI and John Doley have his baptism year as 1729. From the film of the register, it should be 1728. He died before 28 Jun 1814. He was living before 28 Jun 1814 in Lower Green, Speldhurst, Kent.^19,20 He was buried on 28 Jun 1814 in Speldhurst, Kent.^16,20 One source refers to him as Hugh SALE

Hugh Sales and Sarah Gilbert were married on 5 Apr 1752 in Pembury, Kent.^16,21 Sarah Gilbert was born before 23 Jul 1732 in Rotherfield, Sussex. She was baptized on 23 Jul 1732 in Rotherfield, Sussex.¹⁶ She died on 22 Sep 1784.²²
Place of death not known. It should not be assumed that she died in Speldhurst. She was buried on 26 Sep 1784 in St Mary, Speldhurst, Kent.²³ Hugh Sales and Sarah Gilbert had the following children:
