172. Arthur James COPPOCK was born in 1914.²⁰⁵ He died in 1987 in Chichester.¹⁸⁷ Registration district. He was baptized in St James Church, Bermondsey.³³² He has stories about him. See notes.³³⁷ He shared a room with Harry at Southwark Park Road. One day Harry's shoes smelled bad, so he threw them out of the window. It was raining, so they got soaked, of course.
Once he brought a greyhound home, possibly in part-payment of a debt from someone. His father told him to "get rid of it or sleep with it himself".
He liked to drink in pubs, pub friends included the sergeant from Old Street Police Station.
He had a lot of Jewish friends, one of whom was Sammy, who owned a furniture factory. He wore an Eton hat and carried a brief case. Arthur would buy him a double whiskey. He was a plastics factory owner.³³⁷

Arthur James COPPOCK and Ada Irene Gladys HATCH were married in 1936.²⁰⁵ Ada Irene Gladys HATCH was born on 20 Jan 1909.¹⁸⁷ She died in Feb 1997 in Tunbridge Wells Crem.¹⁸⁷ Arthur James COPPOCK and Ada Irene Gladys HATCH had the following children:
