On 30 Mar 1851 he was a shoemaker in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.¹⁶² He was also known as George Sale on 30 Mar 1851.¹⁵⁴ He appeared in the census on 7 Apr 1861 in Lower Green, Speldhurst, Kent.¹⁶³ On 7 Apr 1861 he was a farmer in Speldhurst, Kent.¹⁶³

George Sales and Mary Price were married on 1 Jan 1824 in Speldhurst, Kent.^16,164,165 They appeared in the census on 6 Jun 1841 in Mount Ephraim Terrace, Tonbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Kent.¹⁶¹ They appeared in the census on 30 Mar 1851 in London Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.¹⁶² George's place of birth is given as Goudhurst, instead of Speldhurst! Perhaps the enumerator got confused with the different 'hursts'. Other details compare favourably between the George born in 1793 and the George in this census record, even though he did not seem to be able to remember his age - or perhaps the enumerator asked him, then forgot and put down 50 as a nice round approximation. Mary's age is similarly out by quite a lot, but at the present time, we do not have even a year of baptism, so the year 1793 must be held in doubt. Mary Price was born about 1799 in Tonbridge, Kent.^161,162 Her year of birth is very approximate. George Sales and Mary Price had the following children:
