(Three "John Lindsey"s appear in Lincolnshire in the 1841 census, The one in Alford is identified as a blacksmith, age 31. This implies a birth date of 1809 or 1810. The others are a married 33 year old farmer in Pinchbeck, and a 15 year old in Pinchbeck. The age, occupation and location make it most likely that the Alford individual is this John Lindsey.) On 6 Jun 1841 he was a Blacksmith in Alford, Lincolnshire.57 He appeared in the census on 30 Mar 1851 in Strubby, Lincolnshire.58 (The census shows John's age as 37, his wife Mary as 36. Although, at one time, the terms were synonymous, it is likely that Thomas was Mary's child by a previous marriage, as the marriage register transcript shows her as a widow.)
